Possible Causes

Open circuit in grill element, Burnt connector at grill terminals, Faulty grill relay on control board, Broken selector switch contact (on knob‑controlled models)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power and allow the grill area to cool completely before inspection.

  • Inspect grill element: Visually check the upper grill element for cracks, hot spots, or sagging. Disconnect the terminals and test resistance with a multimeter. Replace the element if open or if it shows visible damage.
  • Check connectors: Examine the spade terminals and wiring at the grill element. Clean any oxidation and tighten loose connectors. Replace burnt terminals and use high‑temperature insulated connectors.
  • Test selector switch (if fitted): On mechanical control Brandt ovens, the function selector routes power to the grill. Test continuity across the grill contacts in the grill position. Replace the selector switch if contacts are burnt or intermittent.
  • Control board relay: For electronic models, if the element and wiring are good, the grill relay on the PCB may be faulty. Replace the main control board if the relay does not energize.
