Oven door will not close fully, heat escapes around the door

Safety first: Ensure the oven is cool before working on the door. Support the door to prevent it from dropping.

• Inspect hinges: Open the door and check for excessive play or sagging. Many Brandt doors can be removed by opening to a specific angle and lifting off the hinges. Replace hinges if they are loose or bent.
• Check door seal: Examine the rubber gasket around the cavity. If it is torn, flattened, or hardened, pull it out of the retaining groove and fit a new Brandt‑compatible seal.
• Verify door structure: Check that the inner and outer glass panels are secure and not bowed. Tighten any loose screws. If the door frame is warped, replace the complete door assembly.
