Possible Causes
Open circuit main oven heating element, Failed oven thermostat or temperature sensor, Faulty oven selector/function switch, Burnt wiring or loose connection at element terminals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the cooker at the wall isolator and turn off the circuit breaker or remove the fuse. Confirm the oven is completely dead before removing any panels.
- Check for obvious damage: Remove the oven from the housing if built-in. Inspect the main oven element (usually at the rear or base) for blisters, cracks, or burn marks. If damaged, it must be replaced.
- Test the element: Disconnect the element spade connectors. Use a multimeter on resistance (ohms). A healthy Bush oven element is typically 20–60 Ω. If it reads open circuit (OL), replace the element.
- Inspect wiring and terminals: Look for burnt or loose spade connectors at the element and at the terminal block. Clean and tighten or replace damaged connectors.
- Check the thermostat/temperature sensor: On many Bush models, a temperature sensor (NTC probe) is mounted inside the cavity at the rear. Disconnect and measure resistance (often 500–1200 Ω at room temperature; check service data if available). If open or shorted, replace the sensor.
- Verify selector switch: With power still isolated, remove the control panel and inspect the oven function/selector switch for burnt contacts. If contacts are visibly charred or loose, the switch should be replaced.
- Reassemble and test: Refit panels, restore power, and test in a standard bake setting. If the oven still does not heat and E01 persists, the main control board may be faulty and professional diagnosis is recommended.
