Possible Causes
Open circuit grill element, Faulty grill thermostat or safety cut-out, Loose or burnt wiring to grill element, Faulty selector switch contact for grill
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the cooker switch and breaker. Allow the grill area to cool completely before working.
- Visual inspection of grill element: Open the oven door and inspect the top grill element for cracks, bulges, or burn marks. Any visible damage means the element must be replaced.
- Test grill element continuity: Access the rear of the oven and locate the grill element terminals. Disconnect the wires and measure resistance with a multimeter. An open circuit indicates a failed element.
- Check thermal cut-out: Many Bush ovens have a thermal cut-out or safety thermostat near the grill area. Test for continuity; if open at room temperature, replace it.
- Inspect selector switch: Remove the control panel and check the function selector switch contacts for the grill position. Burnt or loose contacts can prevent power reaching the element. Replace the switch if damaged.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing faulty parts, restore power and test the grill. If E05 persists, the control PCB grill relay may be defective and require replacement.
