Possible Causes

Failed upper oven temperature sensor, Loose sensor connector, Damaged sensor wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing the oven interior or rear panel.

  • Locate upper sensor: In a Café double wall oven, the upper oven sensor is mounted on the rear wall of the upper cavity. Remove its mounting screws and gently pull forward.
  • Test resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature (~1080 Ω expected). Replace if open, shorted, or far out of range.
  • Inspect harness: Trace the sensor wires to the control board. Check for pinched or burnt insulation and reseat connectors.
  • Replace sensor: Install a new upper oven temperature sensor (RTD) if faulty. If the error persists with a good sensor and wiring, the upper oven control circuit on the EOC may be defective and require replacement.
