Possible Causes
Weak or partially open bake element, One leg of power (L1 or L2) missing at terminal block, Faulty relay on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn off power at the breaker. High voltage is present at the terminal block; only test live voltage if you are trained and equipped.
- Check elements: Confirm both bake and broil elements glow during preheat (some Café models use both). If one does not, test and replace as needed.
- Verify supply voltage: At the rear terminal block, confirm 240 VAC across L1 and L2 (or 208 VAC in some installations). If one leg is missing, inspect the house breaker, wiring, and terminal block connections.
- Inspect terminal block: Look for melted plastic or burnt lugs. Replace the power terminal block and damaged wires if overheated.
- Control board: If voltage and elements are good but preheat is still slow, the main control (EOC) may not be energizing elements correctly and may need replacement.
