Café Temperature Calibration or Sensor Drift

Oven temperature is consistently too hot or too cold compared to a separate oven thermometer.

Possible Causes

Aging oven temperature sensor, Control calibration offset, Poor rack placement or airflow restriction

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: No internal access is required for calibration. For sensor replacement, disconnect power at the breaker.

  • Verify with thermometer: Place an oven-safe thermometer in the center of the oven and preheat to 350°F. Compare the reading after 20–30 minutes.
  • Adjust calibration: Most Café ovens allow temperature adjustment in the settings menu (often ±35°F). Follow the user manual to increase or decrease the setpoint to match your thermometer.
  • Check sensor: If the error is large or unstable, test the oven temperature sensor (RTD) resistance at room temperature (~1080 Ω). Replace if out of range.
  • Ensure airflow: Avoid covering racks with foil and do not block convection fan inlets on convection models.
