Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor, Jammed lock latch, Faulty door lock microswitch, Broken lock linkage or lever
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the oven is cold and isolated from mains before accessing the lock mechanism.
- Check door alignment: Make sure the door closes fully and is not sagging. Adjust hinges or tighten hinge screws if the door is misaligned.
- Listen for lock motor: Restore power and start a pyrolytic cycle. Listen for the lock motor attempting to engage. No sound may indicate a failed motor or no power to the lock.
- Access lock assembly: Remove the top cover of the oven to access the door lock mechanism at the front. Inspect for bent levers, broken plastic parts, or obstructions.
- Test microswitches: With power off, test the lock microswitches for continuity in locked and unlocked positions. Replace the lock assembly if switches are faulty or non-serviceable.
- Replace lock motor assembly: If the motor is open circuit or seized, fit a new Caple door lock assembly, ensuring all linkages move freely.
