Possible Causes

Moisture ingress into touch panel, damaged touch membrane, loose ribbon cable between touch panel and control board, failed touch controller IC

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect mains power before removing the control panel. Glass panels can be sharp if cracked.

  • Dry and reset: If E5 appeared after cleaning or a spill, leave the oven disconnected for several hours to allow moisture to evaporate. Wipe the front panel dry.
  • Access control fascia: Remove the screws securing the front control panel. Carefully pull it forward to expose the touch panel ribbon cable and connectors.
  • Check connections: Reseat the flat ribbon cable between the touch panel and the main control PCB. Ensure it is fully inserted and locked.
  • Inspect for damage: Look for cracks in the glass or membrane, corrosion on the ribbon contacts, or burn marks on the small touch controller board (if separate).
  • Clean contacts: Use isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth to gently clean the ribbon contacts if they appear oxidized.
  • Replace panel or board: If keys remain unresponsive or E5 persists, replace the complete touch control panel assembly or the control board, depending on which is identified as faulty and how Clatronic supplies spares for your model.
