Possible Causes
Heavy grease on elements or cavity surfaces, food debris on bottom panel, spillage on grill element, degraded insulation smoking
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If smoke is heavy, switch off the oven and ventilate the room. Do not leave the oven unattended.
- Inspect cavity: When cool, remove racks and trays. Check for burnt-on food or grease, especially near elements and on the bottom panel.
- Clean thoroughly: Use a non-caustic oven cleaner suitable for enamel surfaces. Avoid spraying directly on elements; instead, wipe them gently with a damp cloth when cool.
- Check insulation: If the smell is chemical or persists after cleaning, inspect around the elements and rear panel for burnt insulation or wiring. Replace any damaged insulation or wiring.
- Burn-in cycle: After cleaning, run the oven empty at a moderate temperature for 30–60 minutes to burn off residues, with good ventilation.
