Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect the oven from power at the breaker before removing any panels. Electronic boards can be damaged by static; avoid touching circuitry directly.
- Power reset: Turn the circuit breaker off for 5 minutes, then restore power. If F1 returns immediately or within a few minutes, continue.
- Inspect control panel: Remove the back panel behind the control console (on freestanding ranges) or the top trim (on wall ovens) to access the electronic oven control (EOC) and keypad ribbon cable.
- Check keypad ribbon: Unplug the flat ribbon cable from the EOC. Look for corrosion, burnt spots, or moisture. Clean gently with isopropyl alcohol and let dry fully, then reconnect firmly.
- Test with keypad disconnected: With power still OFF, leave the keypad ribbon disconnected and restore power. If the F1 code no longer appears, the keypad/touch panel is defective and must be replaced.
- Replace failed part: If F1 persists even with the keypad disconnected, replace the electronic oven control board. Transfer each wire one at a time from the old board to the new one to avoid miswiring.
If you are not comfortable working around live wiring or control boards, contact a qualified appliance technician.
