Possible Causes

Shorted oven temperature sensor, Sensor wiring shorted to chassis, Moisture in sensor connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Turn off power at the breaker before removing panels or testing.

  • Access sensor: Remove the oven racks and locate the sensor probe on the rear wall. Unscrew and gently pull it forward.
  • Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor and test with a multimeter. A shorted sensor will show very low resistance (near 0 Ω). Replace the sensor if shorted.
  • Inspect wiring for shorts: Follow the sensor wires through the rear of the oven. Look for insulation rubbed through and touching metal, or melted sections near the oven liner. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
  • Dry connectors: If there are signs of moisture or corrosion at the sensor or control board connectors, dry them thoroughly and clean with contact cleaner.
  • Control board check: If the sensor and wiring are good but F4 remains, the control board sensor circuit may be shorted internally and the board will need replacement.
