Possible Causes
Grease or food spills on bake element, Foil or liners touching element, Heavy buildup on oven floor or walls
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn off the oven if smoke is heavy. Open windows and avoid inhaling fumes.
- Inspect interior: Once cool, remove racks and check for spills on the bake element, oven floor, and walls. Remove any foil touching elements.
- Clean manually: Use a non-abrasive oven cleaner or a baking soda paste to clean heavy grease. Avoid spraying directly on elements or the temperature sensor.
- Use drip trays: For future use, place a baking sheet on a lower rack (not on the floor) to catch drips from roasting pans.
- Run a light burn-off: After cleaning, run the oven empty at 200–220 °C for 20–30 minutes to burn off any remaining cleaner residue.
