Possible Causes
Element shorted to ground, Pinched or melted wiring, Faulty terminal block or cord
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker. Disconnect power and investigate the cause.
- Inspect elements: Look for spots where the bake or broil element touches the oven liner or is visibly damaged. Replace any suspect element.
- Check wiring: Remove the rear panel and inspect wiring to elements and the terminal block for melted insulation or contact with metal.
- Test for ground fault: With power off, disconnect element wires and test resistance from each terminal to the oven chassis. Any continuity indicates a shorted element that must be replaced.
- Terminal block: Replace a burnt or cracked terminal block and damaged cord if present.
