Possible Causes

Seized convection fan motor, failed fan motor capacitor (if fitted), open fan motor winding, faulty fan relay on main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect mains power. Sharp metal edges are present behind panels; wear cut-resistant gloves.

  • Check fan operation: With the oven cool, try to spin the convection fan blade (behind the rear cavity panel) by hand. It should rotate freely. If stiff or seized, the motor is likely faulty.
  • Access fan motor: Remove the rear panel of the oven. Locate the convection fan motor assembly behind the cavity. Inspect for burnt smell or discoloration.
  • Test motor winding: Disconnect the motor connectors and measure resistance across the terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
  • Check capacitor (if present): Some De Dietrich fan motors use a start capacitor mounted nearby. Inspect for bulging or leakage. Replace if defective.
  • Control relay: If the motor tests good but never receives voltage when fan mode is selected, the fan relay on the main PCB may be faulty and the board may need replacement.
