Possible Causes
Open or weak grill/top element, partially failed bake element, faulty control relay, incorrect temperature sensor reading (high resistance)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the oven from mains power before removing any covers.
- Visual check of elements: Turn the oven on briefly before starting work and observe which elements glow. If only one element glows or none glow fully, suspect a failed element. Then turn power off and allow to cool.
- Test bake and grill elements: Access the rear of the oven and disconnect each element. Measure resistance with a multimeter; typical values are 20–60 Ω depending on rating. Replace any element that is open-circuit or significantly higher than expected.
- Check control relays: Remove the control panel and inspect the PCB for burned or cracked solder joints at the heater relays. Resolder cracked joints if you are competent, or replace the control module if the relay is defective.
- Verify temperature sensor: Measure sensor resistance at room temperature and compare to Essentials specification. A sensor reading too high can cause underheating. Replace if out of range.
- Recalibrate (if available): Some Essentials electronic models allow temperature calibration in the settings menu. After hardware checks, adjust calibration by ±10–20°C if necessary.
