Possible Causes
Shorted NTC temperature sensor, sensor wires shorted to chassis, moisture ingress in sensor connector, failed control board input circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool.
- Inspect sensor and wiring: Remove the sensor from the cavity and check for signs of moisture, corrosion, or damage. Inspect the cable for crushed insulation or contact with sharp metal edges.
- Measure resistance: At room temperature, measure the sensor resistance. A very low reading (near 0 Ω) indicates a shorted sensor. Replace with a genuine or compatible Essentials sensor.
- Check for shorts to earth: With one meter lead on the sensor wire and the other on the oven chassis, ensure there is no continuity. If there is, locate and repair the insulation fault.
- Examine control board: If sensor and wiring test good, the input circuit on the control board may be damaged. Inspect for burned components near the sensor connector. Replace the control module if necessary.
- Reassemble and test: After repairs, restore power and run a preheat cycle. Confirm that E05 does not reappear and that temperature is stable.
