Possible Causes
Stuck touch key on glass panel, damaged membrane keypad, foreign object pressing a button, liquid ingress under fascia
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before removing the control fascia.
- Inspect front panel: Check that no knob, trim, or accessory is pressing against the touch area. Clean the glass with a soft cloth to remove sticky residue.
- Check for moisture: If the error appeared after cleaning, remove the control fascia and inspect for moisture on the keypad or PCB. Dry thoroughly and allow to air dry before reassembly.
- Test keypad: With the panel removed, gently press each key area and listen/feel for proper actuation. If certain keys feel stuck or unresponsive, replace the keypad or complete control panel assembly.
- Reconnect and reset: Reseat the ribbon cable between keypad and control board. Restore power and perform a reset by turning the oven off and on.
- Replace UI assembly if needed: If E16 persists, install a new Essentials user interface / touch panel module.
