Oven overheats, temperature far above set point, food burns quickly

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker immediately if the oven overheats uncontrollably. Allow the appliance to cool completely before inspection.

• Check temperature sensor: Locate the sensor probe inside the cavity (usually at the rear upper area). Remove the mounting screws and gently pull the sensor into the cavity to access the connector. Disconnect and measure resistance at room temperature (commonly ~1–1.1 kΩ for many Fagor NTCs, but check service data if available). If reading is open, shorted, or far from spec, replace the sensor.
• Inspect sensor wiring: Follow the sensor wires to the control board. Look for pinched, melted, or shorted insulation. Repair or replace damaged wiring using high‑temperature cable.
• Test safety thermostat: With power off, test continuity of the safety thermostat. It should be closed at room temperature. If it has tripped and is resettable, press the reset button. If it will not reset or shows erratic continuity, replace it.
• Check control board relays: If the oven continues heating even when switched off at the control panel, the heater relay on the PCB may be welded closed. Inspect the board for burnt relay contacts. Replace the control board if the relay is stuck or the PCB is damaged.

Do not continue using the oven until the cause of overheating is corrected.
