Possible Causes
Grease buildup on elements, Food spillage on cavity surfaces, Failing insulation on wiring, Overheating of internal components
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If heavy smoke appears, switch off the oven and breaker immediately and ventilate the room. Do not leave the oven unattended.
- Inspect cavity: Once cool, remove racks and trays. Check for burnt-on food or grease near elements and on the cavity floor. Clean thoroughly with an oven-safe cleaner.
- Check elements and wiring: Remove rear and bottom panels to inspect elements and wiring for signs of burning or melted insulation. Replace any damaged parts.
- Test at moderate temperature: Run the oven empty at 180–200°C for 20–30 minutes and observe. A slight smell may be normal after cleaning, but persistent burning smell indicates a component issue.
- Stop use if unsure: If you see glowing wires, arcing, or smoke from behind panels, disconnect power and arrange professional service.
