Main oven will not heat, display is on, fan may run but no rise in temperature
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the cooker at the wall isolator and disconnect power before removing any panels. Allow the oven to cool completely.
Step-by-step checks:
- Inspect the main oven element: Remove the rear internal panel of the main oven cavity (usually held by a few screws). Look for visible damage to the circular or base element (blistering, cracks, burn marks). If damaged, replace the Falcon main oven heating element.
- Test element continuity: With a multimeter set to ohms, test across the element terminals from the rear of the cooker. A good element typically reads between 20–60 Ω. If open circuit (OL), replace the element.
- Check the temperature sensor (NTC): Locate the sensor probe inside the cavity (usually at the rear or top). From the rear of the appliance, disconnect the sensor plug and measure resistance; typical values are 1–1.1 kΩ at room temperature (exact spec may vary by Falcon model). If reading is open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the Falcon oven temperature sensor.
- Inspect selector switch and wiring: Remove the control panel (after isolating power). Check the oven function/selector switch for burnt contacts or melted plastic. Inspect wiring to the element and thermostat for heat damage. Repair any burnt connectors and replace the Falcon oven function selector switch if contacts are badly pitted or loose.
When to call a technician: If the element and sensor test good but F01 persists, the fault may be on the main control PCB. Replacement and diagnosis of the Falcon oven control board should be done by a qualified technician.
