Possible Causes

Failed top oven element, Failed grill element, Faulty oven selector switch, Loose or burnt wiring to top cavity

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Isolate the cooker at the mains and confirm no power is present before working on it.

  • Check grill and top oven elements visually: Remove the top oven rear or top panel inside the cavity. Inspect the Falcon top oven element and Falcon grill element for cracks, hot spots, or breaks.
  • Test elements with a multimeter: Access the element terminals from the rear of the cooker. Disconnect one wire from each element and measure resistance. A healthy element will show finite resistance (often 15–40 Ω). Replace any element that reads open circuit.
  • Verify selector switch operation: Remove the front control panel. With the oven isolated, inspect the Falcon top oven/grill selector switch for burnt contacts. If the knob feels loose or positions do not click positively, or contacts are charred, replace the switch.
  • Inspect wiring: Check spade connectors and wiring harnesses to the top oven and grill elements. Tighten loose connectors and replace any overheated or brittle wiring with high-temperature cable.

If both elements and wiring are sound, the issue may be with the Falcon oven control PCB, which generally requires professional diagnosis.
