Possible Causes

Shorted or out-of-range temperature sensor (NTC), Stuck-closed oven thermostat, Faulty oven control PCB temperature regulation, Failed safety thermostat (cut-out not opening)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power at the isolator. Allow the oven to cool fully before inspection.

  • Check the temperature sensor: Locate the sensor probe inside the cavity (usually rear upper area). From the rear, disconnect the sensor plug. Measure resistance at room temperature; compare with Falcon specifications (commonly around 1 kΩ at 20°C). If the reading is very low (near short) or does not change when gently warmed, replace the Falcon oven temperature sensor.
  • Inspect the mechanical thermostat (if fitted): Some Falcon models use a capillary thermostat. Check that the capillary bulb is correctly clipped in place and not kinked or broken. If the oven continues to overheat regardless of setting, replace the Falcon oven thermostat.
  • Check safety thermostat (thermal cut-out): Locate the safety stat on the rear or top of the oven cavity. Test continuity; it should be closed at room temperature. If it has tripped, some models are resettable via a small button. If it repeatedly trips, investigate cooling fan operation and airflow, then replace the Falcon safety thermostat if faulty.
  • Control board: If sensors and thermostats are correct but the oven still overshoots temperature, the Falcon oven control PCB may be misreading or driving the element continuously. This typically requires board replacement by a professional.
