Possible Causes

Open or shorted temperature sensor (NTC) probe, Damaged sensor harness or connector at rear of cavity, Faulty main oven control board (power/control module), Loose connection at terminal block on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains power at the wall or switch off the circuit breaker before removing any panels. Allow the oven to cool completely.

Step-by-step checks:

  • 1. Power reset: Turn off power for 5 minutes, then restore. Try a simple bake cycle. If F01 reappears, continue.
  • 2. Inspect the temperature sensor: Inside the oven cavity, locate the thin metal probe (usually at the rear or upper side). Check that it is not bent, broken, or hanging loose. Ensure mounting screws are tight.
  • 3. Check sensor wiring: Remove the oven from the cabinet enough to access the rear panel. Remove the rear cover and locate the sensor harness where it enters the cavity. Inspect for burnt, pinched, or broken wires and loose connectors. Reseat the plug at the main control board.
  • 4. Test sensor resistance: With the oven unplugged, disconnect the sensor plug from the control board. Using a multimeter, measure resistance across the sensor leads. A typical Fisher & Paykel NTC sensor is around 1000–1100 Ω at 25°C (room temperature). If reading is open (OL), shorted (near 0 Ω), or far outside spec, the sensor is faulty.
  • 5. Inspect control board: If the sensor and wiring test good, inspect the main control board for burnt tracks, damaged components, or corrosion at the sensor connector. If damage is visible or the fault persists, the board likely needs replacement.

When to call a technician: If you are not comfortable removing the oven from the cabinet or testing resistance with a multimeter, or if the control board appears damaged, contact a qualified Fisher & Paykel service technician.
