Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the oven is cool before attempting to release a locked door. Disconnect power at the breaker before removing panels.
- 1. Power reset: Turn off power for 5–10 minutes, then restore. Sometimes the lock will reset and retract. If the door remains locked and F05 persists, continue.
- 2. Manual door release (if accessible): On some Fisher & Paykel models, a manual release tab is accessible through the top or front vent once the oven is pulled slightly from the cabinet. Consult the user manual for the exact location. Gently pull the tab to release the lock.
- 3. Inspect lock assembly: Remove the top/front panel to access the door lock motor assembly. Check for bent linkages, broken plastic parts, or heavy grease build-up. Clean and lubricate lightly with high-temperature-safe lubricant if the mechanism is stiff.
- 4. Electrical tests: Disconnect the lock motor and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Check the lock position switch for continuity in locked and unlocked positions. Repair or replace as needed.
- 5. Wiring and control: Inspect the harness from the lock to the control board for breaks or loose connectors. If all components test good, the control board may not be driving the lock correctly and may require replacement.
If the door is locked with high heat inside or you cannot safely access the lock mechanism, contact a qualified technician rather than forcing the door open.
