Possible Causes
Failed convection fan motor, Seized or obstructed fan blades, Faulty fan relay or triac on control board, Loose wiring to convection fan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the oven to cool before accessing the rear or internal fan cover.
- 1. Confirm fan operation: Select a convection mode (e.g., Fan Bake). Listen for the fan. If silent or noisy, proceed with checks.
- 2. Internal inspection: Remove the fan cover inside the oven cavity (usually held by screws). Check for loose screws, warped cover, or food debris contacting the fan blades. Clean and reassemble.
- 3. Spin test: With power off, gently spin the fan blade by hand. It should rotate freely. If stiff or grinding, the motor bearings are likely worn and the motor should be replaced.
- 4. Rear access: Pull the oven out and remove the rear panel to access the convection motor. Inspect wiring and connectors for heat damage. Reseat connectors.
- 5. Electrical test: Measure resistance across the motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If the motor tests good but never receives power in convection mode, the control board output may be faulty.
Do not run the oven with the fan cover removed during normal use. Replace any damaged fan cover to ensure correct airflow.
