Possible Causes
Failed door lock microswitch, Misaligned lock mechanism, Broken actuator lever on lock assembly, Wiring fault between lock switch and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the oven is cool. Disconnect power before accessing the lock assembly.
- 1. Observe lock behaviour: Attempt to start a self-clean cycle and listen for the lock motor. If it runs but the door does not lock or unlock, the position switch may not be signalling correctly.
- 2. Access lock assembly: Remove the top/front panel to reach the lock. Manually move the lock arm and listen for the microswitch click. If no click is heard or the switch feels loose, it may be faulty.
- 3. Test switch: Disconnect the switch and test for continuity with a multimeter while actuating it. Replace if it does not change state reliably.
- 4. Check alignment: Ensure the lock hook on the door aligns correctly with the lock mechanism. Adjust mounting screws if necessary.
- 5. Wiring inspection: Inspect the small-gauge wires from the switch to the control board for breaks or loose connectors.
If the lock engages unexpectedly during normal baking, discontinue use until the fault is corrected to avoid being locked out of the oven.
