Possible Causes
Open lower bake element, Loose or burnt connection at element, Faulty bake relay on control board, Wiring harness damage to lower element
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the oven to cool completely.
- 1. Inspect lower element: If visible inside the cavity, check for cracks or burn marks. Some Fisher & Paykel models have a hidden lower element under the cavity floor; remove the bottom panel to inspect.
- 2. Continuity test: Access the rear or bottom of the oven to reach the element terminals. Disconnect and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
- 3. Wiring check: Inspect the wiring from the element to the control board for heat damage or loose connectors. Repair as needed.
- 4. Control board: If the element and wiring are intact, the bake relay on the control board may be faulty. This requires board replacement.
Always use the correct wattage and shape of replacement element specified for your Fisher & Paykel model.
