Possible Causes
Lock motor jammed in locked position, Heat-warped lock mechanism, Failed lock position switch, Control board not receiving unlock signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the oven to cool completely; the lock will not release while the cavity is hot.
- 1. Wait and power cycle: After cooling, turn power off for 5 minutes, then restore. Sometimes the lock will reset and open.
- 2. Manual release: If accessible, use the manual release tab or lever near the lock assembly (location varies by model). This may require partially removing the oven from the cabinet.
- 3. Inspect lock assembly: Once the door is open and power is off, access the lock mechanism from the top/front. Check for melted plastic or bent parts and replace the lock assembly if damaged.
- 4. Avoid forcing the door: Do not pry the door open with tools, as this can damage the glass and hinges.
If you cannot locate a manual release or are uncomfortable removing the oven, contact a Fisher & Paykel service technician.
