Possible Causes
Food or grease buildup on elements, Insulation or wiring overheating, Foreign object on cavity floor or near fan, Failing element with hot spots
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If smoke is heavy, switch off power and open windows. Do not leave the oven unattended.
- 1. Visual inspection: After cooling, inspect the cavity, elements, and fan area for burnt food, foil, or plastic. Remove any foreign material.
- 2. Check around elements: Look for darkened areas on elements indicating hot spots. Replace elements that show severe discolouration or pitting.
- 3. Inspect wiring: Access the rear and check for burnt insulation or smell of burnt plastic near wiring and insulation. If found, discontinue use and arrange service.
- 4. Clean cavity: Perform a thorough manual clean or a manufacturer-approved cleaning cycle to remove grease buildup.
Persistent burning smells without visible residue should be investigated by a technician to rule out electrical overheating.
