Possible Causes
Shorted temperature sensor, Stuck heating relay on control board, Miscalibrated control electronics, Faulty high-limit thermostat bypassed or shorted
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If the oven overheats severely, switch off power immediately to prevent fire.
- 1. Confirm with thermometer: Place an oven thermometer inside and compare actual temperature to the set point. If the difference is large (>30°C), proceed with checks.
- 2. Test sensor: With power off, measure the resistance of the temperature sensor at room temperature. Replace if out of specification.
- 3. Inspect control board: Look for a relay that may be welded closed, keeping an element on continuously. Replace the board if a stuck relay is suspected.
- 4. Do not bypass safety devices: Never bypass thermal cutouts or thermostats to "fix" overheating. Replace faulty components with correct Fisher & Paykel parts.
Persistent overheating without a visible cause should be investigated by a qualified technician.
