Oven display shows E004 and unit will not start any heating program

Safety: Disconnect power before adjusting hinges or accessing the lock assembly.

• Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and evenly. Look for obstructions, warped door seals, or trays preventing full closure.
• Test door switch response: Slowly close the door and listen for a distinct click from the door switch/lock area. No click may indicate a failed switch or misalignment.
• Inspect hinges and seal: Check that hinges are not bent and that the door gasket is seated correctly. Adjust or reseat as needed.
• Pyrolytic lock test (if applicable): On self-cleaning models, start a pyrolytic cycle and observe whether the door attempts to lock. If there is no movement or noise, the lock motor or mechanism may be faulty.
• Access lock assembly: With power OFF, remove the top/front panel to access the door lock. Inspect the microswitches and wiring harness for damage or loose connectors.
• Continuity test: Test the door switch contacts with a multimeter while operating the latch manually. Replace if the switch does not change state reliably.

Note: If the lock motor is jammed or the mechanism is deformed, replacement of the entire door lock assembly is usually recommended.
