Possible Causes
Worn membrane under specific keys, Contamination or moisture behind control panel, Cracked ribbon cable
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before removing the control panel.
- Clean surface: Wipe the control panel with a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove grease and residue. Do not spray cleaner directly on the panel.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the control panel and check the flat ribbon for cracks or corrosion. Reseat the connector.
- Test keys: With power restored, test each key. If the same keys consistently fail, the touchpad/control panel assembly must be replaced.
Tip: Order the complete GE Profile control panel assembly by model number; the membrane is usually not sold separately.
