Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Failed EOC temperature relay, Stuck bake or broil relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely before working on it.
- Check for obvious overheating: If the oven interior was excessively hot or food burned quickly, suspect a sensor or control issue.
- Test oven temperature sensor: Remove the rear access panel (for freestanding) or pull the wall oven out slightly to access the sensor connector. Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature; GE Profile sensors are typically ~1080 Ω at 70°F (21°C). If far out of range, replace the sensor.
- Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the sensor to the EOC for pinched, shorted, or burned wires.
- Replace EOC if needed: If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the EOC may be misreading temperature or leaving a relay stuck on. Replace the EOC.
Note: Do not continue using the oven with an F2 over-temperature condition; it can be a fire hazard.
