Possible Causes
Failed oven temperature sensor, Broken sensor wiring harness, Loose sensor connector at EOC
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before testing or replacing parts.
- Locate the sensor: Inside the oven cavity, find the thin metal probe (usually at the upper rear). Remove the two mounting screws and gently pull the sensor forward to access the connector.
- Test resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature, expect ~1080 Ω. If reading is open (OL), shorted (near 0 Ω), or far off spec, replace the sensor.
- Check harness: If the sensor tests good, trace the wires back to the EOC. Inspect for cuts, burns, or loose connections. Reseat the connector at the control board.
- Replace sensor: Install the new GE Profile-compatible sensor, route the wires away from hot surfaces, and secure with the original screws.
When to call a pro: If wiring inside the cabinet is damaged or inaccessible, a technician should handle the repair.
