Possible Causes

Shorted oven temperature sensor, Sensor wires shorted to chassis, Moisture in sensor connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing the sensor or wiring.

  • Inspect sensor wiring: Remove the oven's rear panel or pull the wall oven to access the sensor harness. Look for insulation damage where wires may touch metal.
  • Test sensor: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. A reading significantly lower than ~1080 Ω or near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor; replace it.
  • Check connectors: Inspect the sensor plug and EOC connector for moisture, corrosion, or carbon tracking. Clean and dry as needed; replace damaged connectors.
  • Replace sensor: If the sensor is shorted or suspect, install a new GE Profile sensor and secure wiring away from sharp edges.

Note: Continued use with a shorted sensor can cause inaccurate temperatures and potential overheating.
