Possible Causes
Shorted touchpad membrane, Failed oven control panel (UI), Loose ribbon cable between keypad and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the oven at the circuit breaker and verify power is off before removing any panels.
- Power reset: Turn the breaker off for 5 minutes, then restore power. If F0 returns immediately or when pressing keys, the keypad is likely faulty.
- Inspect keypad ribbon: Remove the control panel trim (usually a few screws from the front or under the control panel). Carefully pull the control panel forward and locate the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the electronic oven control (EOC). Reseat the ribbon by unplugging and firmly reconnecting it.
- Check for moisture/contamination: Look for signs of liquid spills or steam damage around the keypad. If the membrane looks bubbled, cracked, or sticky, it must be replaced.
- Replace keypad/control panel: On many GE models the keypad is integrated with the front control panel. Order the correct GE control panel/touchpad assembly using the full model number. Transfer any screws and brackets from the old panel, reconnect the ribbon cable, and reassemble.
Note: If a new keypad does not resolve F0, the electronic oven control board may also be defective and should be replaced.
