Possible Causes
Weak bake element, Failing oven temperature sensor, Incorrect oven calibration setting, Poor rack placement or blocked airflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before removing elements or panels.
- Verify with thermometer: Place an oven thermometer in the center of the oven and preheat to 350°F. Compare the displayed temperature to the thermometer after 20–30 minutes.
- Inspect bake element: Visually check the lower bake element for blisters, cracks, or dark spots. Replace the GE bake element if damaged or if it does not glow evenly.
- Test sensor: Measure the oven sensor resistance (~1080 Ω at room temp). Replace if out of spec.
- Adjust calibration: Many GE ovens allow temperature adjustment in the settings menu (e.g., ±35°F). Follow the user manual to calibrate if the oven is consistently off by the same amount.
- Improve airflow: Avoid covering racks with foil and do not block convection fan (if equipped).
