Possible Causes
Failed temperature sensor reading too high, Cooling fan not running causing overheating, Blocked ventilation slots around oven, Faulty main control board temperature calibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and allow the oven to cool completely before inspection.
Steps to check:
- Verify that the cooling fan (tangential fan above the cavity) runs when the oven is heating. If it does not, check the fan motor and its wiring.
- Ensure that the built-in oven has correct ventilation clearances as per Gram installation instructions. Clear any obstructions from the top and rear vents.
- Inspect the temperature sensor for signs of damage or discoloration from overheating. Test its resistance at room temperature and compare to specification.
- Check that the oven door closes fully and the door seal is intact; heat leakage can cause abnormal readings.
- If the fan and sensor are OK but E3 recurs, the main PCB may be misreading the sensor and require replacement.
Warning: Do not bypass safety thermostats or sensors. They prevent fire and severe damage.
