Oven will not heat in any mode, display and oven light work normally
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the Grundig oven from mains power by switching off the circuit breaker or removing the fuse. Verify with a non-contact voltage tester before touching any internal parts.
- Check basic settings: Confirm that a cooking function and temperature are selected, and that the timer is not set to delayed start or end-time only.
- Inspect heating elements: Remove the rear oven panel (inside cavity) to access the circular (fan) element and visually inspect for burn marks, blisters, or breaks. Do the same for top and bottom elements. Any visible damage means the element must be replaced.
- Test elements with a multimeter: Disconnect the element connectors and measure resistance. A typical Grundig circular element is usually 20–40 Ω. Infinite resistance indicates an open element that must be replaced.
- Check the temperature sensor (NTC probe): Locate the sensor at the rear of the cavity (usually top corner). Disconnect its plug and measure resistance at room temperature (commonly 500–1100 Ω depending on model). If reading is open, shorted, or far from spec, replace the sensor.
- Inspect main control board relays: Remove the top cover to access the electronic control module. Look for burnt relay contacts or darkened PCB areas. If a heater relay is visibly damaged or you hear no relay click when starting heating, the control board may need professional repair or replacement.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing any faulty element or sensor, reassemble panels, restore power, and test in conventional and fan-assisted modes.
Warning: If you are not confident working with live or high-current circuits, contact a qualified appliance technician. Do not bypass safety devices.
