Possible Causes

Failed cooling fan motor, blocked cooling air channels, faulty cooling fan triac or relay on control board, defective cavity overheat thermostat

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains power before removing the top cover.

  • Identify the fan: The cooling fan is located above the oven cavity, blowing air across the control panel and front fascia.
  • Check for obstruction: Remove the top cover and inspect the fan blades for insulation, debris, or grease buildup preventing rotation. Clean carefully with a brush and vacuum.
  • Spin test: Rotate the fan by hand. It should spin freely without grinding. If stiff or noisy, the motor is likely failing and should be replaced.
  • Electrical test: With power off, disconnect the fan and measure coil resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If resistance is normal, the issue may be with the control board output.
  • Check overheat thermostat: Some Grundig ovens use a thermal cut-out or thermostat in series with the fan. Test it for continuity at room temperature. Replace if open when it should be closed.
  • Control board diagnosis: If the fan runs constantly even when the oven is cold and off, the triac/relay on the PCB may be shorted. Board replacement is usually required.

Note: A non-working cooling fan can cause damage to the control panel and surrounding cabinetry due to excessive heat.
