Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working on the door lock assembly. The lock is part of the high-temperature safety system.
- Check door alignment: Ensure the oven is level in the cabinet and the door closes evenly. Adjust mounting screws if the door is sagging and not engaging the lock striker properly.
- Listen for lock motor: Start a pyrolytic cycle (with power on) and listen for the lock motor. If there is no sound, the motor or its supply may be faulty. If it hums but does not move, the mechanism may be jammed.
- Access lock assembly: Remove the top cover and, if needed, the front panel to reach the lock mechanism at the top of the door opening.
- Inspect linkage and switches: Check for broken plastic levers or bent metal parts. Test the lock position switch(es) with a multimeter for proper open/closed operation when the lock is manually moved.
- Replace faulty lock: If the motor coil is open or the mechanism is physically damaged, replace the complete door lock assembly with a Grundig-compatible part.
Note: Never attempt to force the door open during or immediately after a pyrolytic cycle; wait until the oven has cooled and the lock releases.
