Possible Causes
Open grill heating element, burnt wiring to grill element, faulty grill relay on control board, overheated safety thermostat open
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the oven from mains power before accessing the top panel.
- Visual inspection: Look at the grill element at the top of the cavity for cracks, blisters, or burn marks.
- Test grill element: Access the element terminals from the rear or top of the oven. Disconnect the wires and measure resistance. Infinite resistance indicates a failed element.
- Check safety thermostat: Some Grundig ovens have a grill or cavity overheat thermostat in series with the grill circuit. Test for continuity at room temperature. Replace if open.
- Inspect wiring: Check for burnt or loose spade connectors at the grill element and thermostat. Replace any damaged connectors and heat-resistant wiring.
- Control board relay: If the element and wiring are good but the grill never energizes, the grill relay on the main PCB may be faulty. Board replacement is usually required.
Note: Always match the replacement grill element to the original part number and mounting style.
