Possible Causes
Faulty door switch or latch sensor, misaligned door latch, broken door hinge causing poor closure, damaged door switch wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before adjusting hinges or accessing switches.
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes firmly and evenly. Look for gaps along the seal. If the door sags, adjust or replace hinges.
- Inspect latch area: Examine the latch receiver and striker for damage or misalignment. Gently bend the striker plate if needed so it fully engages the switch.
- Test door switch: Access the switch (often behind the front panel or side frame). With a multimeter, test continuity while opening and closing the door. Replace the switch if it does not change state reliably.
- Check wiring: Inspect the switch wiring harness for broken conductors or loose connectors. Repair or replace as necessary.
Note: Some Grundig ovens use electronic door sensors integrated into the lock or latch; these must be replaced as an assembly if faulty.
