Rack / Runner Wear or Contamination
Oven racks or telescopic runners difficult to slide, squeaking or sticking
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Grease and carbon buildup on runners, warped racks, worn telescopic bearing mechanisms, use of incorrect cleaning agents
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the oven to cool completely before removing racks.
- Remove and clean: Take out all racks and runners. Clean with hot soapy water or a non-caustic oven cleaner. Avoid immersing telescopic runners if the manufacturer advises against it.
- Inspect for warping: Check that racks are straight and not bent. Replace any that are distorted.
- Lubricate (if allowed): Some telescopic runners can be lightly lubricated with high-temperature food-safe lubricant; check Grundig's guidance. Do not use standard oils or greases.
- Replace worn runners: If bearings are rough or seized, replace the telescopic runner set.
Note: Do not operate the oven with runners removed unless the manual confirms it is safe.
