Possible Causes

Failed oven temperature sensor (NTC probe), Stuck closed bake or broil relay on control board, Poor airflow around oven cavity causing overheating, Wiring short between sensor and control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the oven at the breaker and allow it to cool completely before working. High temperatures can cause burns.

Step-by-step checks:

  • Visual inspection: After cooling, remove the rear panel (for freestanding) or access panel (for built-in) to locate the oven temperature sensor probe entering the cavity.
  • Check sensor resistance: Disconnect the sensor harness. Using a multimeter, measure resistance at room temperature. Typical Haier NTC sensors read around 1000–1100 Ω at 25°C (77°F). If reading is open, shorted, or far out of spec, replace the sensor.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the harness from the sensor to the control board. Look for pinched, burnt, or melted insulation, especially near the rear of the oven.
  • Control board relay check: If the oven continues heating with F2 or heats when it should be off, the bake or broil relay on the control board may be welded closed. This usually requires board replacement.

When to replace parts: Replace the oven temperature sensor if resistance is incorrect. If the sensor and wiring are good but F2 persists or the oven overheats, replace the electronic oven control board.
