Hansa oven overheats rapidly, may burn food, and displays E02 or shuts down unexpectedly.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely before inspection.
- Check ventilation: Ensure the built-in oven has the clearances specified in the Hansa installation manual. Blocked vents or tightly packed cabinetry can cause real overheating and trigger E02. Remove any items blocking ventilation slots.
- Test the temperature sensor: Access the rear of the oven and locate the NTC sensor connector. Disconnect it and measure resistance at room temperature. A shorted sensor will show near 0 Ω. If resistance is extremely low or far outside the expected range, replace the sensor.
- Inspect wiring for shorts: Follow the sensor cable and look for crushed insulation or points where the cable may be touching sharp metal edges. Repair or replace damaged wiring and secure it with high-temperature cable ties.
- Control board check: If the sensor and wiring test correctly but E02 persists, the control board may be misreading the sensor. Inspect for visible damage (burnt tracks, darkened components). Replacement of the control module is usually required in this case.
When to call a technician: If the oven continues to overheat or shut down after sensor replacement, or if you suspect a control board fault, professional diagnosis is recommended to avoid fire risk.
