Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off gas supply and disconnect power before working on gas components. Ensure good ventilation.
- Clean the burner: Remove the burner cover and clean ports with a soft brush to remove grease and debris. Ensure all holes are clear.
- Inspect ignition electrode: Check the ceramic insulator for cracks and ensure the electrode tip is close enough to the burner (per manual). Clean the tip with fine sandpaper.
- Check flame sensor: On some models, the ignition electrode also serves as a flame sensor. Ensure it is properly positioned in the flame.
- Test gas valve coil: Measure resistance of the gas valve coil(s). Replace the valve assembly if open or shorted.
When to call a technician: Gas system repairs carry significant safety risks. If cleaning and simple checks do not resolve E19, contact an authorized gas technician.
