Possible Causes

Tripped or open-circuit safety thermostat, Faulty cavity overheat thermostat, Blocked cooling airflow around oven, Faulty main control board not reading thermostat correctly

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate the oven from the mains supply. Allow the appliance to cool fully before inspection.

  • Check ventilation:
    • Ensure the oven is correctly installed with adequate ventilation gaps as per Hoover installation instructions.
    • Clear any obstructions from vents at the front, rear, or top of the cabinet.
  • Access safety thermostat:
    • Remove the oven from the housing if necessary (support it securely).
    • Remove the top and/or rear cover to locate the safety thermostat (usually a small round or rectangular device with two terminals, mounted on the top of the cavity or rear panel).
  • Test the thermostat:
    • Disconnect the two wires from the thermostat.
    • Measure continuity with a multimeter. A good thermostat should show continuity (near 0 Ω) at room temperature.
    • If it is open and has a manual reset button, press the reset firmly and retest.
    • If it remains open, replace the thermostat.
  • Inspect cooling fan operation:
    • With covers still off (but before reassembly), briefly power the oven and select a heating function.
    • Confirm the tangential cooling fan (cabinet cooling fan) starts after a short delay.
    • If the fan does not run, test the fan motor and its wiring; replace the cooling fan if faulty.
  • If thermostat and fan are OK: The main control board may be misreading the overtemperature circuit. Board replacement should be carried out by a professional.
