Possible Causes
Shorted NTC temperature sensor, Moisture ingress into sensor probe, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Faulty main control board input circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains power before removing any panels.
- Visual inspection:
- Remove the rear panel to access the oven temperature sensor.
- Check for signs of moisture, corrosion, or burnt insulation around the sensor and its connector.
- Measure sensor resistance:
- Disconnect the sensor plug from the harness.
- Measure resistance at room temperature; if it is extremely low (close to 0 Ω) or far outside the expected range, the sensor is shorted.
- Replace the sensor with a Hoover-compatible NTC probe.
- Check harness for shorts:
- Inspect the cable from the sensor to the main PCB for crushed or melted insulation.
- Repair or replace the harness if conductors are exposed or shorted together.
- Test after replacement:
- Reassemble panels, restore power, and select a low-temperature function.
- If E03 persists with a new sensor and good wiring, the main control board is likely defective and may need replacement by a technician.
